This turned into a standoff!
The customer was determined to get her Amazon package hand-delivered to her door, claiming she was far too busy to drive into town. (She was a nursing student, after all.)
However, the road to her house was, quite simply, too dangerous to bring the delivery truck up. That stretch of mud and ice apparently has a record of ditching delivery vans. (Which, it should be noted, do not come with Winter tires. The UPS delivery fleet is primarily designed for urban centers.)
The driver said, “Fine. I’ll put her package in the corner of the van and it will stay there until her road becomes passable.”
-What eventually happened was that the customer realized the stalemate was not going to go in her favor and sent her boyfriend down to pick up her package. She was not pleased. He didn’t seem to care.
My wife gave me an interesting update on that story. -Not long afterwards, a different driver went up to the same address with another Amazon package, and.., he went in the ditch and needed a crane truck to get him out again!
Moral of the story: If you live on a cow trail, only drive cows!
