#8 “Mamma’s Boy”

Sometimes people decide that the best place to start shouting into their phone and air their family drama is right in the middle of a retail shop.

Is that a ‘sign of the times’? Did people do that back in the 1950’s? (Well.., they didn’t have smart phones, so I guess not.)

In any case, to be fair.., mailbox stores and post offices naturally become a kind of community hub where you regularly and see the same people. A kind of familiarity emerges. I know I enjoy it, and trade “Hi! How you doing?” with the folks I run into there.

So.., maybe if you’re having one of those bad days and feel the need to blow up or melt down, it makes sense that some might feel more comfortable doing so around people who know you and might be more likely to understand.

Hmm….

On the other hand…

“What? No! Keep yourself together. Nobody needs your drama! We’re all just trying to get through the day. Sheesh. Practice a little self-awareness.”

Comedy happens somewhere between those two extremes, and I’m more than happy to draw it.
