So.., I recently learned about “Click Charges”.
(A cost logged per copied page, payable to the printer manufacturer.)
My first thought was, “Well isn’t that a sin! Everybody is going subscription these days!”
I was informed that, “No, Mark. It’s been like this since.., printing.” (It’s a way to offset the price of toner and maintenance and other things which the leasing agency is responsible for).
Well.., okay then…
I also learned that the fuser unit sometimes needs to be swapped out with a whole different fuser stored nearby, all depending on what kind of paper you’re printing on.
“Really?? That sounds annoying!”
“Yes, honey. It is. Or it was..!”
With newer copiers, you no longer have to do that. A whole problem and innovation came and went right under my nose.
I’m learning a fair bit by skulking around my local copy shop and pestering my wife for details.
